How Much Does it Cost?
Membership
Adult Members pay only £15 per year which largely covers insurance costs. For this, members are not only insured but, by default on the management committee of the Players, shaping what we do, and how we do it. Members can be as involved as they want to be with the running of the group.
Full-time students over 18: £7.50, under-18s (in the panto): £1.*
*(Any 15 to 18 year olds performing in more shows than the panto upgrade their membership to full-time student membership by paying an additional £6.50.)
Additional Costs
+ For productions, cast members are asked to pay for their script (where commercially bought). This is around £10.
+ The Players have an extensive wardrobe. However, for productions, cast members may need to provide some additional costume elements for their characters. (Usually from charity shops or their own wardrobes!)
+ There is a group make-up box, which is paid for by group funds. However, some actors prefer to do their own.
Paying for Productions
The last two productions cost between £1,200 and £1,700 to put on.
As productions are funded by ticket sales and a raffle, cast members are encouraged to contribute to these....
+ Sell tickets to friends and family.
+ Provide raffle prizes.
Net Revenues
If a performance earns any revenue, this is put towards the general costs of running the group; make-up, lighting, insurance, as well as maintaining a slush-fund to subsidise future productions (if necessary).
